The Graeme Stephen Trio

Friday March 25th : 7.30pm  £8

Graeme Stephen is one of the UK's top jazz guitarists and it is with great pleasure that we welcome him back to the Mill on the Fleet, this time as a trio with musicians from Amsterdam outfit Zapp4

A multifaceted musician, he performs with numerous projects playing a wide array of styles and works with a variety of jazz combos including the free improvising NeWt, his own Sextet, and Gerwin Eisenhauers booOm (Music from Video Games), and is a regular at the Playtime jazz sessions in Edinburgh's Outhouse Bar. In addition to his live and recorded jazz output Stephen works with folk and cross-over artists such as Fraser Fifield and Aidan O'Rourke, and maintains an impressive sideline in the composition and performance of soundtracks for silent films of the 20s and 30s.

Stephen’s music speaks loudly of ambition, imagination, nous, and harmonic adventure yet teemed with the sort of tuneful realisation that swells the heart – Rob Adams, The Herald.

Mill Sessions : Sean Taylor

Saturday 12 September
7:30pm - 9:30pm
Tickets £8 on the door

Mill Sessions is privileged to host acclaimed singer song-writer Sean Taylor who will be making a very welcome return to the Mill as part of his autumn tour this September, featuring songs from his superb new album 'The Only Good Addiction is Love'.  The album has been listed by The Telegraph as among the best folk music albums of 2015, given 9/10 by Blues Magazine and featured by Whispering Bog Harris (a long-standing fan) and Paul Jones of BBC Radio 2, on radio Caroline and on Belgium Radio 1 among many others.  It is a stunning album and best conveyed by Sean's own words:

"Being an artist is about making connections. Sometimes the connections are straight forward like writing a love song when you’re in love or a song about being heartbroken when she’s gone. On my latest album ‘The Only Good Addiction Is Love’ I have searched for more abstract and demanding references. The album’s title is a quote from the former President of Uruguay Jose ‘Pepe’ Mujica who gave 90% of his salary to charity and refused to live in the presidential palace preferring a farm with his wife and a three legged dog.
