In Edinburgh Between 1827 and 1828 science and murder cling together in a dance of death. Sixteen people are slaughtered by Burke and Hare and the devil and all his works prowls the streets of 'Auld Reekie'. Dr Robert Knox, scientist, and anatomist supreme, waits in Surgeons Square to buy bodies for the sake of advancing medical knowledge. His door is chapped, a body is delivered, money is paid and no questions are asked.

All the way from New Zealand (via Scotland) The Frank Burkitt Band are delighted to be embarking on their debut UK Tour in May and June 2019. Following on from 4 months of shows in the antipodes, where they were announced as winners of the Vodafone NZ Music Award for Best Folk Artist 2019, the band will be travelling the UK for 6 weeks to as far north as Inverness and as far south as Falmouth. A set with the band can be described as American roots music infused with folk, blues, country and a sprinkling of swing.

Talk : The Art of Underground Travel : David Burnell

The London Transport poster collection is an unique record of London’s transport history, set out in many art styles with imagination and humour. David Burnell is a poster and art guide for the London Transport Museum and will describe how the collection came about, and how the poster was used to publicise London and its attractions It also explores the range of artistic and graphic styles. The talk is illustrated with over 50 images.
